5 Must-Have Mobile Apps for Job Hunters

Posted by in Career Advice

People are foregoing traditional connections and using their mobile devices to interact with the web instead of simply logging on to a laptop or desktop. Because of this there are a plethora of tools job seekers have to help them find their next career in the palm of their hand.

  1. SnapDat is an environmental and economical way to share business cards. Keep your creative flair and document branding by designing a virtual card with your own logo and layout. Pass your cards to other users with their usernames or send anyone your information in an email. It easier to search an inbox than a glove box to find their number when they need it later.
  2. Business Card Reader is the flip side to SnapDat. The app saves you from collecting a pile of contacts by photographing business cards and entering the information into your contacts. It’s easier and more reliable than entering the information yourself.
  3. Resume App is the key to creating custom resumes on the go. Having a resume tailored to each position’s specific requirements instead of using the same one-size-fits-all approach will give you the upper hand on the job hunt. This app allows jobseekers to create their resume on their phone or home computer and then tweak, preview and send it on the fly. Resumes can include multiple references, photos and a generic cover letter.
  4. Job Compass points you to where the jobs are, literally. It crosses job search and map app technology to find jobs within a 5 to 100 mile radius of where you’re standing. Once you locate an opening that sparks your interest, read about it, contact the hiring manager, send yourself an email with a link to the job description, and apply for the job right from your phone.
  5. LunchMeet lets you sign in through your LinkedIn account to coordinate casual get-togethers with your networking contacts. Punch in when and where you’re available and see who’s free to meet for lunch, drinks, dinner or whatever. Likewise, see what others are doing in the area and drop by when you have some free time.

The important thing to remember is that there are all sorts of avenues out there to find a job that’s right for you. Mobile apps let you take that search on the road and give you the tools you need to get where you’re going at record speed.
