Does your boss bully you constantly by yelling, shouting, threatening you with termination and taking credit for your work? Have you finally decided to give up on your current job? If so, you need to figure out how to cope with a sudden job change without ruining your entire career.

Start looking for another job as soon as possible. A new job may not pay as much as the one you have now, but at least you get to leave on your own terms. Another job allows you to provide your family some kind of financial security moving forward even if you have to cut back your budget.

Learn a new career while maintaining your current job. Take night classes to shore up your skills, and network for another job at the same time. Your college's job placement service can help put you in touch with employers who need your services. Professors and instructors can vouch for your work ethic so you do not have to put your bullying boss down as a reference.

Working at a temp job to make ends meet is a viable option. Although a temp job is not ideal, it could start you on a new path to career satisfaction without a boss who bullies you.

How you leave your current job depends on your tolerance level for the bullying boss. If you can hold out long enough to get on another career track or find another job, you can minimize the stress done to your family and your finances. However, there may come a point where the bullying is just too much for your psyche to handle and you have to move on.
