The job search can be challenging when you feel as if you are not making progress. As a result, you may feel less energized to compile cover letters and perfect your resume. Procrastination is a clear sign that you are unhappy with your current situation, whereas dissatisfaction indicates that you do not feel challenged. Combine these two, and you feel as if you are in a rut with no light at the end of the tunnel.

Take charge of your job search to eliminate stalling, improve your satisfaction level and remove yourself permanently from the rut you are experiencing. Begin by evaluating your skills and making a list of goals. Think about what you want from a career. Do you want to feel as if you are making an impact? Do you want to feel as if you have room for advancement?

Use these goals and aspirations to fuel your job search and revitalize your efforts. For example, network with people who are successful and satisfied with their careers. Find out what perks or aspects of their job give them a sense of fulfillment. Then, focus your efforts on researching companies that have missions and goals similar to your own. Circle back to your network to make connections with individuals who are currently employed by your preferred companies.

You can revive your job search efforts and find the motivation to keep looking for an ideal position if you can envision what qualities of a career make you happy. This passion is bound to aid you when communicating with potential employers.
