Think Big for Big Results

Posted by in Career Advice

Dr. David Schwartz, in his ground breaking book entitled, "The Magic of Thinking Big," says, “There is only one conclusion you can honestly reach about yourself. You are bigger than you think. So, fit your thinking to your true size. Think as big as you really are! Never, never, never sell yourself short.”

Far too many people today do not give themselves credit for all of their talents. They think they are too young, too old, too dumb, or any other excuse they can think of that explains why they are not able to achieve their true potential in life. Like the saying goes, “Your attitude determines your altitude in life.” Where you are able to go with your life and what you are ultimately able to do with it, is really determined by your own mind.

This is where it is critically important that we become very particular of what we let enter into our mind. By focusing on reading the best books, magazine articles, blogs and websites, we are creating the kind of information flow that colors our thoughts about our potential.

As my friend and successful entrepreneur, Bob Kayda says, “If you put just a little arsenic into your orange juice every morning, just a little bit, you would slowly be poisoning your body. Eventually, you would cause your body to become ill and perhaps even die. That is very similar to the poison some people put into their minds. The negative newscasts, the violent or mindless television programs they watch, all do their part to cripple their mind, and eventually render it useless.

The wonderful thing about being alive is you, and only you, can allow what enters your mind. In order to tap your full potential and make this a really positive and successful life for yourself, you must allow yourself to constantly think big. So, as Dr. David Schwartz once said, “Fit your thinking to your true size.”
