    Director, Engineering Process

    Otis Engineering is undergoing a significant transformation from a decentralized organizational model to one that has more balance through creating a focus on modularity and global platforms in conjunction with a broader focus on software and electronics. The Director, Engineering Process will re-imagine Otis' product development (mechanical, electrical, and software-driven) with a globally coordinated mindset of modern development methodologies (Agile, model-based design). He or She will define, deploy, monitor and continuously improve engineering business processes. This is an exciting leadership opportunity to work across all key Lead Design Centers globally to design, build and implement forward leaning, agile processes with direct visibility of the Otis Senior Leadership Team.

    This individual will influence and support the Global Engineering knowledge-based network and utilize technical knowledge (both industry and internal best practices and standards). This individual will drive technical influence into meaningful direction to Engineering, Manufacturing, Research, Development, and other teams across the organization.


    • Develop, deploy and continuously improve organization-wide methodologies for the design and implementation of processes and tools for Otis Engineering

    • Consults with senior and executive business leaders to identify relevant analytics, standards and metrics for the processes

    • Provides functional specification documentation for new technologies, process innovations aligned with strategic roadmap and business value

    • Updates processes consistent with the new organization structure, development approach, and global product portfolio

    • Lean out the product development processes consistent with a more thoughtful risk assessment early in the development process

    • Addition of Agile methodology and mindset in Otis at a global level

    • Apply Value Stream Mapping techniques to operating procedures to optimize value and eliminate waste

    • Create and apply demonstrated methodology techniques for project execution

    • Leverages domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to guide decisions of executive business leadership, internal partners and customers

    • Creating simple but consistent global metrics and dashboards to measure and communicate risk, progress and return on investment

    • Execute the vision and implement the strategy by gaining executive alignment and motivating and engaging the workforce to fulfill the vision

    Location: Farmington, CT or other Otis Lead Development Center

    Reports to: Vice President NAA Engineering and Module Engineering & Technology


    The Director, Engineering Process is a critical position that requires a passionate, driven leader who will architect and deliver strategic directions across Engineering globally. This includes aligning resources, prioritizing strategies, establishing targets, and implementing initiatives that support the broader business strategy. Otis is looking for a seasoned and mature leader with a strong collaborative and global mindset. He or She will have a strong desire to work in an environment with a diverse mix of technology and products and interested in large-scale transformations. They will also drive change from purely mechanical to electromechanical and software skills. This strategic leadership position involves someone who has successfully implemented change to a global engineering footprint in their career. He or She will report to the global VP of NAA Engineering and Module Engineering & Technology and will collaborate closely with the global engineering leaders.


    • Experience in taking ownership of the overall Engineering process landscape and working to incrementally converge it towards a strategic vision

    • 10+ years' experience in program and change management and associated methodologies, techniques, processes and approaches

    • Proven experience in executing programs using Agile techniques, methodologies

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required with an advanced degree preferred

    • Solid knowledge of design and deployment related tools such as ALM, JIRA, etc.

    • Excellent analytical, statistics and problem-solving skills

    • Extensive expertise in business and sales operations processes and their application to business-wide systems

    • Proven success of implementing process innovation, with examples of developing new technologies and practices within Engineering and aligned with the global community (operations, quality, service, etc.)

    • Global team leadership, development and accountability

    • Ability to effectively communicate architectures, plans, proposals, and results, and negotiate options at business unit and executive levels


    • Advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering
