Position:              Analytical Research Scientist (Exempt position, full time)

Reports to:         Senior Program Manager, Analytical Services

Duty Station:      Newberry, FL Office, and Laboratories

Work Week:       Exempt, full-time position; 40+ hours per week to meet work demands.

NCASI has been providing unbiased scientific research and technical information for more than 80 years to help the forest products industry achieve its environmental and sustainability goals. We are seeking a Research Scientist with a strong background in analytical chemistry and familiarity with environmental and EPA test methods to join our team at the Newberry, FL location.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry or closely associated scientific discipline with 3+ years of hands-on research/method development experience using GC and HPLC techniques.
  • PhD with no experience or Bachelor’s degrees with a wide range of demonstrable hands-on method development experience will also be considered.
  • Familiarity with Clean Air, Clean Water, and hazardous waste (SW 846) test methods.

 

Skills:

  • Hands-on method development experience using HPLC and GC detection and measurement systems (MS, MS/MS, FID, ECD, PFPD, NPD, etc.), with peer-reviewed articles and/or patents.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot GC, GC/MS, HPLC-MS, and HPLC-MS/MS, systems.
  • Strong computer and statistical data analysis capabilities.
  • Analytical subject matter expertise with ability to conduct in-depth literature reviews.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Job Functions:

The primary role of this Research Scientist is to conduct environmental analytical testing as well as participate in the development of new methods when necessary. The activities described herein are representative of those required to be successful in this role.

  • Develop, evaluate, and implement GC and HPLC methods to support technical research projects.
  • Document the development, implementation, and performance of analytical methods.
  • Prepare laboratory reports for project leaders and member companies as well as other written communications that meet the highest standards of quality.
  • Work safely and contribute to updating and improving laboratory safety practices.
