About the Position
The Senior Accountant will provide overall accounting activities such as; Account Reconciliations, General Ledger support, and month-end variance analysis all in support of deductions, funding, and taxes for payroll purposes. Overall this individual is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, fidelity and timeliness of payroll funding, and gross-to-net payroll accounting for Goodyear North America. This includes research, analysis, validation and preparing artifacts that support payroll and payroll tax funding, and payroll expenditure and accrual posting to the general ledger. Additionally, the Accountant performs monthly accounting reconciliations to ensure controls are effective, and ccounting is accurate for consolidated financial statements and internal and external financial reporting.
Receive and process requests for payroll funding.
Process federal and state payroll tax notices received. Monitor recording, tracking and resolution of tax notices by third party administrator. Research payroll tax variances and identify proper accounting treatments.
Research, document and post related journal entries to the general ledger.
Perform end of month accounting reconciliations. Support requests for financial reporting. Support design and testing of management controls.
Research, analyze, ideate, design and implement process change and integrate technology to support continuous improvement, standardization and optimization.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or other business field required.
CPA or other advanced Degree desired
2+ years of accounting, auditing and/or financial analysis experience (preferably supporting payroll)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SAP (or other GL system) and Workday (or other payroll system)
Demonstrated ability to research accounting transactions and document support for journal vouchers/entries for GL adjustment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to multi-task, deliver results and meet deadlines
Understanding of GAAP, accounting for complex transactions, and familiarity with internal/management controls
Good presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written; well-developed collaboration and partnership skills
