  • What you bring

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or related field or combination of relevant education, experience, and training.

    • 6 years' IT or business experience.

    • 7+ years in hands-on data engineering or development of planning solutions.

    • Experience in developing End to End Architecture of large-scale applications.

    • Strong understanding of data and analytics solution architecture, including experience with Big Data, Relational databases, streaming and batch data processing.

    • In-depth knowledge and experience with Data Engineering essentials such as scripting languages, source control, workflow scheduling, relational and non-relational SQL, and development of complex data solutions.

    • Expert knowledge and experience with a diversity of tools and platforms.

    • Experience with micro service and full stack architecture; strong knowledge of SOA principles.

    • Experience with leading enterprise cloud/virtual architectures like AWS, Microsoft Azure, Open Stack, JIE, etc.

    • Experience in leading design and development on horizontally and highly scalable cloud-based architecture. AWS cloud infrastructure experience strongly preferred.

    • Demonstrated track record of leading within complex organizations requiring strong influence management skills - ability to work cooperatively at all levels in matrix environment.

    • Exceptional collaboration, listening, written and verbal communication skills with ability to facilitate technology strategy, requirements, and architecture conversations with all stakeholders (management, business users, and technology resources).

    • Strong team management and leadership skills.

    • Demonstrated ability to influence critical business outcomes in a matrix based, global environment.

    • In-depth knowledge with practical hands-on experience in leading teams to implement Demand or Assortment Planning Solutions for Retail using packaged solutions in any of the following (o9, Anaplan, Oracle, Blue Yonder, SAP).

    About the Role & Team

    As a Principal Software Engineering, you'll be responsible for implementing end-to-end demand planning platform. You'll work closely with the Product and architecture to provide leadership in in driving technical design and solutions across multiple domains/ solution areas, contributing to the future success of the business through innovations in technology.

    This is a key capability central to Nike's consumer-direct acceleration strategy and this role will play a critical role across the enterprise Planning as we reset our technical strategy and as we engage with other tech leaders to accelerate the technology and Digital roadmaps.

    You will be a forward-thinking technology leader with a keen business sense and experience in building Demand Planning Platforms and Solutions. You will influence the end-to-end strategy across technology and partner closely with a shared Enterprise Architecture, Data and Analytics group. You will partner with Platform peers and Business Leaders to craft the digital systems of the future.

    You will guide the team within a matrixed environment to continually improve upon its ability to deliver fast, reliably, at a global scale, with security, and to the delight of our customers.

    The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for planning solutions, Data analytics and a unique ability to provide strategic advantage for Nike through innovative solutions.

    What you will work on

    Leading the design and development of technical solutions within Demand Planning that have significant strategic, long-term impact on the business and achieve competitive advantage for the company, aligned with the strategic objectives of Nike and future architectural standards.

    • Establishes and communicates a strategic vision for multiple systems and solution areas, helping colleagues translate that vision into sprints and plans for the team(s).

    • Codes and/or provides direction and technical guidance on the most complex coding/development, configuration, and implementation efforts, enhancing the expertise of colleagues.

    • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to establish an architectural plan for building Platform solution in consideration of the product roadmaps.

    • Participate in design and engineering of analytics solutions that have significant strategic impact and achieve long term competitive advantage for Nike.

    • Embrace and influence domain driven design and architecture principles of security, scale, uptime and reliability.

    • Partner with business leaders to provide expert technical advice and influence strategic decision making.

    • Demonstrate a strong bias for architecture principles balanced with tactical timelines, cost, and risks.

    • Contribute to architecture guiding principles, development standards, training and hiring.
