  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience" to "Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or Engineering, or combination of relevant education, experience, and training.

    • 10 + years software engineering experience

    • 2+ years experience in working in a dynamic environment with multi-national teams across time zones

    • Globalization experience designing and implementing scalable end-to-end multi- national enterprise solutions for multiple products, services, and systems, and diverse content types is required

    • Experienced in computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures

    • Proficient in modern software architectural principles and patterns (REST API, DDD, microservices, etc.)

    • Hands-on coding experience in Java, JavaScript, or Python

    • Worked in a Distributed/Cloud-based environment (e.g. Amazon EC2/ECS, GCE, Rackspace, Azure, etc.) with a micro-service architecture

    • Hands-on experience with public cloud offerings (AWS/GCP/Azure)

    • Experience applying machine learning methods in settings like recommender systems, search, user modeling, image recognition, graph representation learning, natural language processing

    • Familiar with multiple data storage solutions and their purpose (e.g. relational, document, key-value, etc...)

    • Desired: familiarity with cloud-based deployment platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Serverless, etc...)

    • Front-end web application expertise (React, Redux, GraphQL or similar UI Framework)

    • Continuous Integration and automated testing experience

    • Experience deploying, monitoring and supporting critical cloud applications

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both technical and business-facing

    This is accomplished through a set of tools and services to create and publish a pool of localized content for personalized delivery. Our headless approach enables multi-channel content reuse. Automation enables us to assemble and publish product detail pages without human intervention.

    We are integrating best-in-class SAAS solutions with Nike's content platform to automate testing, learning, and optimization of content at scale. We strive to connect the intent of storytelling from creative brief to publishing, providing valuable insights on adoption rate and storytelling performance.

    Your Role

    As a Principal Software Engineer, you will architect, develop, test and deploy sophisticated solutions. You will advise product owners on technology-related business problems; formulate options and assessing their relative merits and risk to identify the best solution. You will keep up to date with the world of platforms and build a vision to ensure that we are always striving to be the best. You will mentor software developers on the team, and through code reviews, ensure that all the work meets industry standards. You will work with many multi-functional engineering teams to build the future of sport!

    As a Principal Engineer, you will

    • Set goals, vision and create a technical road map for the team

    • Collaborate with a globally distributed team

    • Work closely with the product management team to ensure we're building the best products

    • Partner with Product, Architecture, and engineering to create, influence the product backlog, and make decisions on technical debt and feature road maps

    • Provide technical leadership in the evaluation, conceptualization, design, and development of major new capabilities

    • Share takeaways through blogs, talks, and discussions across Nike

    • Drive multi-functional alignment and technical delivery of major capabilities across value streams
