We are growing our wireless mobility & security team and are looking for engineers who are adept at embedded programming and have interest and/or experience with wireless systems and protocols to contribute to experimentation, development, and security projects involving LTE & 5G. Our work program includes a variety of opportunities that leverage our well-equipped laboratories:
Evaluate spectrum co-location of commercial and military wireless systems
Develop cutting edge communication and sensor systems using software defined radio (SDR) platforms
Develop and evaluate mobile edge applications on MITRE's private 5G cellular network
Perform hands-on security assessments of wireless protocol and radio implementations
Extend capabilities of MITRE's LTE/5G experimentation radio access networks

This position provides an exciting opportunity to experiment with modern wireless communications networking protocols including 5G and LTE cellular equipment, to design and prototype solutions that adopt or augment these technologies, and to evaluate the security of protocol implementations. Opportunities include:
Exploration, evaluation, and development of prototype solutions to augment commercial wireless communication protocols to provide secure and resilient communications for government applications
Contribute to the creation of wireless test networks, test scenarios, and tools for generating, collecting, and analyzing signals
Participation in field test and evaluation exercises: preparation, execution, and post-event data analysis

BS degree and 5 years related experience
Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance
B.S. (or higher) in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 5 years of related experience
Experience with programming in languages such as Python, Java, C++, or C
Experience with software design and foundational communications or signal processing concepts
Effective oral and written communication skills
M.S. or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering
Experience in one or more of the following:
Software development practices including design and code reviews, testing and regression, revision control, and user documentation
Implementation of wireless communications protocol stack(s)
Scientific/numeric computing experience with MATLAB, Python, or C
LTE, 5G, or other radio access network configuration, function development, and/or evaluation
Containerized application software design and container orchestration systems (e.g. Kubernetes)
Cryptography and security concepts, including key-agreement protocols, authentication, encryption, and related concepts
Embedded security topics such as firmware/software reverse engineering and vulnerability discovery
