Technical Program Manager - Sustainability - Opportunity for Working Remotely

Business Summary:

VMware's Sustainability team accelerates a secure, resilient and sustainable digital foundation with focus around intrinsic sustainability (product sustainability innovation), digital workspace for distributed workforce / digital inclusion, digital skills & training, and net-zero value chain.

We're seeking a versatile Senior Program Manager to drive the cross-functional portfolio around Trust, Equity and Sustainability with a focus on product sustainability innovation. The candidate would create and manage the portfolio framework, drive portfolio status reporting and risk management, and establish reporting/metrics around the various projects and OKRs. This role reports into the director of sustainability innovation and will assist with the execution of strategic product sustainability innovation projects and initiatives.

Job Role and Responsibility:

Planning & Strategy

• Align and engage with stakeholder organizations

• Assist in creating charter (including success metrics), program funding request and business case

• Assist with developing program strategy, prioritization and phasing

Execution: Manage all phases of program through successful delivery

• Program structure & master plan

• Tracking workstreams and managing progress

• Assist with strategic meeting preparation and creating/managing work product

• Assist with development and management of work product

• Program Office with right-touch governance and communication

• Programmatic communications and key meeting management

• Decision-making, escalation and change request disposition

• Definition and implementation of related policies and processes

• Alignment with other VMware initiatives and dependencies management

Stakeholder/Cross-Functional Team Management

• Identify business resource support requirements & coordinate support

• Manage cross-functional global teams (Product team, IT, 3rd party vendors, etc.) in a matrix framework

• Establish partnership/advisory relationship with program sponsor and key stakeholders

Change Management & Communications

• Facilitate change management and communication planning and execution through project lifecycle

Risk/Issue Management

• Proactively identify, assess and manage program risks and issues

• Drive resolution of conflicts

Portfolio Management

• Create portfolio view of all initiatives relevant to a specific business domain/organization

• Partner with executive sponsor in driving portfolio strategy

• Become business domain expert across portfolio eco-system

• Identify and manage interdependencies within the portfolio

• Ensure a holistic portfolio change plan

Required Skills:

Qualifications & Experience

Education/Training

• BS/BA degree in Business or Technology-related field (required); MBA or Masters (preferred)

• Project Management certification or equivalent

• Agile Project Management certification or equivalent

Experience

• Program management background

• Experience leading major programs in a complex, global corporate setting

• Experience and comfort with business-related tools and platforms such as SmartSheets, Planner, WorkBoard, Confluence, Jira

• Understanding of program management methodologies and framework(s)
