Wichita unemployment rate doubles state average in February

The unemployment rate in February was 6.4% in the Wichita area, doubling the average rate of 3.2% across Kansas.  Wichita was the only one of the five metropolitan areas individually tracked to have a rate even above 5% for last month, according to February data released Friday by the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL).  The Wichita MSA includes the surrounding Harvey, Butler, Kingman and Sumner Counties.
