Consumers want more and more a place to connect as they eat their hamburgers and fries or, in this case, as they drink their coffee? Well, according to some recent consumer research conducted by Starbucks, buyers of their brand look favorably on logging into a social network as they enjoy their cappuccino's and raspberry scones.

In response, Starbucks is soon to release an in-store digital network as part of its new "Starbucks community." Internet access will be free to all customers and they will be able to connect with like-minded coffee drinkers.

Companies like Starbucks are adapting to the ever-changing public demand by becoming more accessible with its public image. Most of the people I know go everywhere with their bluetooths, GPS, cellphones, iphones, ipods...My own husband doesn't have a successful bowel movement without his ipod touch. These platforms like Facebook and Twitter are formed on the premise that people have to know what their friends and friends of friends are doing at every second of the day.

So everyone wants to stay connected.

If your two obsessions are the Internet and java, the new Starbucks environment is ideal. It's their way to battle the ever gloomy crisis the best way it can and it will probably be quite successful.
