The recent winter chill freezing many parts of the world is also cooling down demand for green jobs. The demand for products that are supposed to lower heat emissions, reduce energy use, and "save" the earth are being adversely affected by cold weather in target geo markets. There was a big push in 2010 for green jobs with publicly funded and government subsidized companies emerging all over. One company that has been affected is Intel spinoff, SpectraWatt, a solar cell manufacturer that opened in 2010 which has announced that it is closing its doors after nine months of operation. They cite economical troubles as the reason for the shut down. Winter may have slowed down the growth of green jobs but there is still a big future and need for energy efficient technologies. We can only wait and see what spring and summer bring to the market.
