If you love golf and you want to work in the hospitality industry, you might consider a golf resort career. You'll work in some of the world's most beautiful locales. The jobs available at a golf resort run the gamut. Some of the more popular positions include:
Starter. You'll maintain the starting times and tee sheet, and ensure that golfers get off the first tee in an orderly manner. You'll need excellent interpersonal skills and be able to deal with customers in a courteous manner. You'll assist lone golfers in finding a game and make sure they have a pleasant golfing experience.
Ranger. You'll move around the golf course, helping golfers and courteously monitoring the pace of play. Once again, you'll need excellent interpersonal skills and tact. The ranger also relays status reports and handles emergencies.
Golf Car Maintenance. Ideal for the mechanically inclined, you'll make sure the club's fleet of golf cars stays clean, safe and operational.
Golf Shop Staff. You'll register customers for play, help with tee times, merchandising, receiving and banking of player fees, tournament administration and much more. Good interpersonal skills go along way in these positions. As a member of the golf staff, you'll be the customer's first contact to ensure they have a pleasant experience. A key perk for golf shop staff is being able to play free rounds of golf at the course.
Food and Beverage. Most high-end golf facilities are equipped with elaborate dining rooms, grill rooms and snack bars. Your work here will involve everything from ordering food, inventory management, sales, waiting tables, menu planning and running the kitchen.
There are many other golf resort careers you can pursue; each golf resort has different needs.
