Networking Tips for the Holidays

Posted by

As the holidays roll around, networking opportunities are abundant. Even though you may not currently be searching for a job, it's the perfect time to meet new people and branch out. Whether you've graduated or are on winter break, take advantage of the abundance of holiday events.

I found great advice in this article. This time of year, many organizations hold charity events or holiday parties for clients. Large cities often have networks for young professionals or young volunteers. I suggest conducting an online search for organizations that meet your networking needs. Then, seek out an event coordinator to see if you can volunteer at the event or be on the guest list. This will ensure that you are meeting the so-called 'movers and shakers' of your desired industry. You will also be on their radar for future events or job openings.

Once at holiday networking events, ask pointed questions. If you're at young professional events, see how other young people like their professions. This is a great time to see negatives and positives of a job. For example, a job may have long hours but a person may move quickly through the company ranks. When taking business cards or exchanging information, jot down some notes on the back so that when you contact that individual or see them again you will have something to say.

Try not to stress over holiday networking. It's a busy time for everyone so relax and enjoy yourself! Let me know if you have any networking tips. Find out job information at Nexxt.
