Sales is about being R.E.A.L.

Real: In order to be successful in sales successful not only in terms of numbers, but also ethically, emotionally and spiritually, you have to be you. Not a salesperson, you. When you play the sales game, you are only thinking of making a sale, which is a position of manipulation. When you have the mindset of wanting to truly help the customer, whether your solution is the right one or not, you will only be concerned with finding the truth. This frees up creative energy and allows the process to flow naturally. Expert: You must be a trusted adviser. You must know your product, service and industry so well that you can serve your customers with your knowledge. They must know that you can be counted on as an expert. Because you're real, you'll be trusted to use your knowledge to do what's right for your customer. Accountable:Call when you say you're going to call, do what you say you're going to do. I had a call scheduled with a salesperson at 3 PM one day. I planned my day around that call, so when he hadn't called by 3:15, I was no longer in a position to begin our conversation and turned my attention elsewhere. He called just a few minutes later and I let it go to voicemail. When I was a young salesperson, I would make that same mistake of not being accountable and didn't understand why others were so harsh about it. I didn't realize that I was disrespecting them and showing them they couldn't trust me with their time- their most valuable asset. Likeable:When you love your customers, it will come through. When you don't, you can't fake it. The most effective way to become likeable by other people is to have a wholesome purpose in your life and to care about others and help them get what they want. If you love others, you will serve them. If you want your customers to like you, love them and care about them. Show them you are genuinely interested in their success, and they will always listen to what you have to say. People buy from people they like. To Your Success!

So I need to reach within myself and validate them as, sort of a coperson, and then be responsive to what they require.
