Ask The Pro

Do you ever wish you could get into the head of a Human Resources professional? Keep them in your pocket as a secret weapon during the job search? I know I have! Sometimes you just want some kind of edge to keep you at the top of the resume pile.

Well I went out and found you a pocket HR pro! Meet Cami Braswell who was great enough to answer some common job hunter questions! Thanks Cami!!

Q: If I have applied at a company already and didn't hear back or get hired, should I apply again?

A: Yes, I would continue to apply for any positions I would qualify for. I would also suggest a best practice of following up with HR via phone or email on the status of the previous application.

Q: Is it ok to drop off my resume at a company that doesn't have job opportunities posted at the moment?

A:Usually they will tell you that they are not accepting applications and that you will need to refer to the website for any openings.

Q: If I drop off a resume but don't have a contact name, who should I ask for when I call back?

A: Provided they accept the resume, then I would ask for the recruiter or hiring official.

Q: What is the biggest mistake I can make at a job interview?

A: Being late for the job interview and not dressing appropriately.

Q: Is there a set number of resumes I should put out and then wait awhile, or should I apply everywhere at once?

A: Considering on average you will only receive 1 response for every 10 resumes sent, you should apply continuously.

Q: Any other job hunt tips that you would give a new college graduate?

A: Be flexible, mobile and be creative in your job search.
