What's been your best job and why? My current position. I work for and with wonderful people and have varied and interesting work. What do you think is the number one non-IT skill IT professionals need today? Excellent communication skills What do you credit your career success to? Colleagues who were willing to share their knowledge and expertise with me. What are the top three skills a high-level IT manager needs today?
  1. A good understanding of the business for which he/she works, including strategic, market and financial drivers.
  2. Excellent people skills
  3. Being flexible and open-minded.
What's your favorite IT resource site and why? www.gantthead.com as I am heavily into IT project management and they always have great tips. What is the best career advice you've ever received? Never say never. What's the top advice you'd give to a new IT staffer? Learn all you can about your company's industry and the departments you support. You need to understand the business in order to make the technology work. What would you advise someone looking to find the type of role you currently have?
  1. Get experience managing small projects first. Then, as you gain experience, look for more challenging assignments.
  2. Be willing to try new things.
  3. Network with others who work in areas that interest you.
What is the one career decision you would change if you could? I would have gotten involved with IT sooner. If you had the choice to jump into any other job, tech or non-tech, what would it be?
