What's been your best job and why? I would say my best job so far is my current job as the space is very exciting and the team is very intelligent and motivated. The real possibility we can build a great new company is very exciting. What do you think is the number one non-IT skill IT professionals need today? Ability to interact collaboratively. What are the top three skills a high-level IT manager needs today?
  1. The ability to attract and keep smart people.
  2. The ability to manage and provide the right environment for smart and talented people to allow them to be fully productive.
  3. Adaptability to change and ability to focus.
What's your favorite IT resource site and why? SANS Institute is well versed in a number of different industries and even offers hands-on training throughout the country. What is the best career advice you've ever received? Change is opportunity; it lead me to look to start-up opportunities and that has been great. What's the top advice you'd give to a new IT staffer? Learn to focus and don't be too narrow in your thinking. What would you advise someone looking to find the type of role you currently have? Be interested in what you do outside of work. If you work on coding or open source at home you probably are a good candidate. What is the one career decision you would change if you could? Would have moved to entrepreneurial companies sooner in my career. If you had the choice to jump into any other job, tech or non-tech, what would it be? Scientific researcher.
