Enthusiasm Creates Power

Posted by in Career Advice

Have you ever noticed the difference between a person who possesses enthusiasm and the one who doesn’t? It seems the one who has it is upbeat about life. He or she seems to always be able to have the drive to see the best in everything. This type of person is always involved with making projects work effectively and successfully. They don’t give excuses, they give results.
Webster’s dictionary gives this definition for enthusiasm: fervor, ardor, eagerness, zeal, excitement. Are these the kind of words someone could use to describe you? If so, you have a distinct advantage over the next person who does not.

I Am Sold Myself
Like the acronym for the words “I Am Sold Myself,” IASM, that come from the last four letters of the word enthusiasm, the person that possesses enthusiasm is sold on themselves. They believe in what they are doing and have an excitement that is fun to be around. Their energy excites other people, and they are good at getting others to feel the excitement.

Thomas Carlyle once said, “Everyone is enthusiastic, some for an hour and some for a day, but the one who becomes successful is the one who gets enthusiastic and stays that way.”

I have a question for you. Are you as enthusiastic as you want to be? If you are, you are blessed. If you are not, you can do something about it. First, you need to find something worth getting excited about. It could be work, it could be a hobby, it could be your family, it could be your health. Whatever it is, it has to be something for which you can generate strong feelings of excitement. The key is to identify what it is that you can get excited about being or doing.

Get Into Action
Once that is accomplished, the next step is to get into action and start doing it. This is critical. It was Arnold Schwarzenegger who that said “nobody got muscles by watching me lift weights.” In other words you have do what it takes to get the kind of enthusiasm that will make you satisfied. Once you get started on your journey to enthusiasm, you will find it to be a most rewarding and fulfilling, lifelong experience.
