Maximize Your Job Search Time

Posted by in Career Advice

During a new job search, if you ever find yourself stewing over what might have been about your life, pause, take a deep breath, and remind yourself that the best is yet to come.

It's too easy to get lulled into thinking about how things could have been different if only you had made different choices in the past. "Coulda bin", "shoulda bin", "woulda bin" thinking is a waste of your precious time and energy. Don't fall for the temptation of squandering the present moment in this useless activity.

Avoid Comparing Yourself to Others
Muddled thinking can get activated when you experience a slow period in your career search. Another time is when you observe someone who has accomplished great things with their career. When you compare what you have done, it pales next to what this other person has achieved. It can leave you feeling despondent. This type of reaction to these situations can get you stuck in the "coulda bin", “shoulda bin”, “woulda bin” syndrome. Don't let it happen to you.

Keep Focused
The key is to keep focused on your career goals and take action. Remind yourself that life is a series of experiences and you must learn from each one. The knowledge you gain from one experience will prepare you for future ones.

Take Risks
Don't be afraid to TAKE RISKS! Far too often, people opt for a way to live their lives that makes the least waves and attracts the smallest amount of attention. You've got to take on the Columbus kind of thinking. Take risks! Seek out and communicate with people who are doing or have done in their career what you want to do. Learn from them. Remember, if they can do it, so can you!

Take Action
When your job search gets slow, take action! Remind yourself that if you just keep taking action and moving towards a better tomorrow, your today will be so much more fulfilling and satisfying. If you are interested in a better career in business visit Flagship URL www.businessworkforceblog.com
