Nike's Self-Lacing shoes.

It's by far the most exciting Nike product launches of the past few years - which is good for them. As you know, when you work in Business, generating positive buzz about a new product means a huge increase in sales. With Nike's new shoe, this has certainly been the case. After a week of carefully planned out teasers on Twitter by "Back to the Future" producer Frank Marshall, Nike has announced that they are introducing a "Back to the Future" inspired self-lacing shoe.

If you have seen "Back to the Future II" (let's face it, who here hasn't?) then you know the shoes I'm talking about. They are high top shoes that lace themselves. Of course, in the film, the shoes aren't available until sometime in 2015, but for us, the wait is over. In the film, the highly coveted shoes were made by Nike and they would automatically tighten around the wearer's feet. For those of us who grew up in the 80's, owning a pair of these babies was as much of a dream as having a hoverboard. Take a look at the promo video:

With the amount of buzz about this product launch, I am wondering if this isn't going to be a tie-in to something else. From all reports, Nike is also offering several other "Back to the Future" merchandise, including replicas of Doc's aluminum shades. I'm not sure what it is, but I can tell you that the people on NiceKicks, a shoe fansite, are already saying that they are willing to camp out to get their hands on these shoes. And, when people are willing to line up and sleep on the sidewalk just to buy your product, you must be doing something right.

I guess we're going to need more hoverboards.

Do you want a pair of these shoes? Tell me what you think in the comments.
