The Best Ways To Boost Your Confidence

Projecting a confident you.

The job market is getting better, but finding a great job still takes  work. One of the most important things you can do is to present yourself to employers and network contacts with confidence. It can be difficult at first, but cultivating an attitude where you are in charge of yourself and your career will go a long way toward insuring that you make the best impression possible.

Here are the best ways to get rid of negative thinking and boost your confidence:

Stop thinking negative - If you've been out of work for a few weeks or a few months, it's understandable that your self-esteem and confidence will have taken a hit. When you feel desperate it shows in how you speak and how you carry yourself. Remind yourself that setbacks and disappointments are just a part of life. I know it's hard, but you have to brush them off and look forward to your next opportunity. All you need is just one good shot. Keep looking for it and your confidence will shine through.

Grow a thicker skin - Being able to bounce back from disappointment and adversity is a key part of staying confident. If you wear yourself out, you won't have the energy to do what is neccesary to make a great impression. No matter how tough your job search is, schedule in some down time to take care of yourself. Go for a walk, exercise or spend time with the people you love. Also, be careful about what you eat. When you're feeling stressed, it's so easy to eat sugary snacks that give you an instant rush but sap your energy.

Plan activities and rewards into your search - When you are out of work, it's so easy to feel like you've lost your anchor. The lack of structure can kill your confidence level. As humans, we need to feel as though we are capable of accomplishing our goals. To build some structure into your job search, schedule your job-search activities and then schedule a reward. By breaking down the big goal into smaller, clearly-defined tasks you will create built-in check points that help you feel successful. To reinforce this behavior, plan a small reward after you finish your list.
When you take care of yourself and nurture your own feelings of accomplishment, your confidence level will rise dramatically. Give it a try and see if you can become more confident.
