  • Overview

    Able Bodied Seaman (EPA-2023-19591):

    Bowhead seeks to network with Able Bodied Seaman for an upcoming effort supporting the The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Great Lakes National Program Office (GLNPO). If awarded, we will support this program by operating and maintaining a research vessel and work boat to obtain sediment and water samples in the Great Lake basin in support of water quality monitoring agreements between the United States and Canada.

    Responsibilities

    TheAble Bodied Seamanwill be responsible for general maintenance, repair, sanitation, and upkeep of material, equipment, and areas that are the responsibility of the deck department. The Seamen will operate a control station to deploy monitoring equipment using A-frames and winches. In addition, the Seamen shall assist in loading and offloading scientific supplies, samples, and equipment.

    Qualifications

    • The Seamen shall hold a USCG Merchant Mariners Document (MMD) with firefighting and life boatman endorsements.

    • Prior Military experience is a plus.

    • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

    • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts

    • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

    Physical Demands

    • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds

    • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

    • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
