Hybrid Schedule DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Under the administrative direction of the Director - UWP Accounting & Financial Reporting, the Accounting Manager has principal responsibility to plan, supervise, administer and direct the activity of the accounting staff and implement systems and processes for collecting, verifying, processing and reporting financial information in an accurate and timely manner.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close with required approvals, reviews and reconciliations
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all monthly financial information
Provide functional and technical expertise and training for accounting staff and ensure that they understand and follow all established policies and procedures and are appropriately deployed and held accountable for delivering outcomes
Interview, hire, and train new employees, monitor employee performance, initiate disciplinary action, terminate employees as appropriate, write and conduct employee performance evaluations, conduct and participate in team meetings and coordinate coverage for open positions
Assess internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas, and established internal controls for general ledger and financial reporting operations
Evaluate current accounting and reporting operations and offer recommendations for process improvements
Create and maintain accounting and reporting process documents and policies and procedures
Assist CFO & Director of UWP Accounting & Financial Reporting in department planning and decision making REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or related field
7 years of progressive financial accounting experience with strong background in analyzing and preparing financial statementsAND
3 years supervisory experience
Experience in an academic healthcare environment and/or CPA preferredOR
