    The Colorado State University Department of Athletics sponsors 16 men's and women's intercollegiate sports and competes as a member of the NCAA Division I- FBS and the Mountain West Conference.     Position Summary

    The Assistant Athletic Director for Development, in partnership with the Senior Associate Athletic Director and other development team members, is responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive strategy to grow, promote and optimize philanthropic support and premium seating for the Department of Athletics.

    Required Job Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Sports Administration/Management, Business, Marketing, Management, or any other field related to responsibilities and duties

    • Minimum of five (5) years of development or sales experience, including demonstrated experience and success with raising major gifts/revenue ($50,000 and above)

    • Must have the ability to conduct overnight business trips and work non-standard hours.

    • Ability to work autonomously, establish priorities and follow-up in a timely manner

    • Demonstrated skill in working independently and as part of a team to develop and achieve fundraising goals

    • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with internal and external constituencies

    • Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a driver's license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date

    • Attention to detail, organization, problem solving and decision making abilities and experience

    • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and oral/written/electronic communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with multiple audiences

    • Ability to prioritize projects and duties; assign responsibilities; multi-task; meet deadlines and deliver results

    • Demonstrated track record of building donor/client relationships, working collaboratively and strategically, possessing a strong knowledge of principles, ethics and practices of successful fundraising/revenue generation.

    • Good judgment, confidentiality, and discretion in communicating with colleagues and constituents.

    • Ability and commitment to act responsibly and ethically within the parameters of institutional control

    • Commitment to conduct all activities in compliance with NCAA , Mountain West Conference and Colorado State University rules and regulations

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    • Master's degree

    • Seven (7) years of development or sales experience, including demonstrated experience and success with raising major gifts/revenue ($50,000 and above).

    • Previous experience in intercollegiate athletics

    • Demonstrated experience being part of a team that designed and implemented dynamic, complex, multidisciplinary fundraising projects, with emphasis on major gifts/revenue generation.

    • Proficiency in a variety of software products with strong computer skills and familiarity with spreadsheet and database systems preferred (e.g., Microsoft Word/Excel/Office/Access/ PowerPoint, Advance, Paciolan).

    • Work experience that demonstrates an understanding and solicitation of deferred gifts, complex gifts, corporate relations and estate planning.

    • Knowledge of appropriate NCAA rules and regulations.

    Duty/Responsibility

    • Work with the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development in planning and implementing a comprehensive strategic program to grow, promote and build relationships and generate support from alumni, friends, foundations and corporations.

    • Promote major gift opportunities aligned with the priorities and strategic plan identified by the Department of Athletics and personally manage a principal/major gift donors/prospects portfolio of 80-100 for the purpose of developing major gift giving and providing private support to fund strategic priorities, capital priorities, endowments and deferred giving.

    • Assist in managing all giving programs.

    • Oversee the qualification, cultivation, and stewardship of assigned major gift prospects including researching, compiling and analyzing information pertaining to major giving potential and instituting strategy specific to each major gift prospect.

    • Ensure that all gifts are processed according to CSU Foundation policy and that donors are appropriately recognized and stewarded.

    • Facilitate relationships with donors, potential donors and University personnel by being accessible and knowledgeable; by providing accurate information; and by resolving problems, complaints, needs and questions in a timely, accurate and professional manner.

    • Provide individual attention to specific donors with special circumstances and/or needs by use of good judgment and by tailoring information specifically applicable to the donor.

    Duty/Responsibility

    • Research, compile and analyze information pertaining to major giving potential of donors by organizing data from electronic databases and communicating with departmental personnel and other contacts.

    • Assist the Senior Associate Athletics Director and other major gift officers in the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of top level annual fund, major and principal gift prospects/donors.

    • Maintain all donor records and coordinate the flow of information to on-campus constituents.

    • Assist the planning, implementation and evaluation of all giving programs.

    • Partner with CSU Advancement staff on planned giving prospects and gifts.

    • Assist with timely preparation, administration and modification of new/existing fund agreements; manage endowments; handle gift documentation and acknowledgment; oversee Advance donor/alumni report preparation and distribution.

    • Collaborate with Office of Principal Gifts and Gift Planning to advance major/planned gift arrangements that require tax or estate planning.

    • Serve as liaison between prospective donors and their advisors and appropriate CSU Foundation and Advancement offices to assist with various gift arrangements, including major cash gifts; stock contributions; and gifts of real property, land and other personal property.
