  • The Department of Sociology and the Program in Global Studies at the University of Virginia invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position specializing in the economic sociology or political economy of globalization. We seek a scholar whose research and teaching explore the social, cultural and/or historical dimensions of international commerce and/or the global economy. The successful candidate will have Sociology as a tenure home and be involved in curriculum development for the Global Commerce in Culture and Society track of Global Studies. The position entails teaching four classes a year, split between Sociology and Global Studies.

    Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the ability to develop an independent research agenda that contributes to the field, indicate promise of sustained research excellence, and provide evidence of strong teaching and mentoring skills. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. or appropriate terminal degree by time of appointment.
