  • The Department of Art in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia seeks a time-based media artist (working with video, installation, sound, or other experimental digital artworks) for a non-tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Art, General Faculty . This position will be based in the Digital Media Concentration of the Studio Art Program with a one-year full-time appointment beginning August 2024: teaching three courses in the fall and three courses in the spring.

    We seek candidates willing to contribute to an undergraduate studio art education within a liberal arts college. Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching and successful experience in the classroom as an instructor of record. The candidate will teach digital media practices from the introductory to advanced levels and contribute to a vibrant undergraduate studio art program with excellent facilities for photography, sculpture, painting, filmmaking, digital media, and printmaking.

    A relevant terminal degree (MFA or equivalent by July 2024) is required along with a strong exhibition history and evidence of current and ongoing creative practice. A range of teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred. We seek candidates with knowledge and aptitude to teach and mentor students from diverse and global backgrounds.
