  • The Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applications for a full-time tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Hispanic Linguistics. Duties are as follows: Teach a variety of courses in Spanish linguistics and language pedagogy (2/2 teaching load); contribute to the Department's graduate and undergraduate curricula; conduct scholarly research and perform service to the university. The position requires: Ph.D. in Spanish/Hispanic Linguistics or related field by the time of appointment; native or near-native fluency in Spanish; demonstrated excellence in teaching. Expertise in any of following fields is required: Synchronic or diachronic approaches to the study of the Spanish language; second language acquisition/development with a focus on Spanish; Spanish discourse analysis; Phonetics/Phonology of Spanish.
