    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The purpose of this position is to provide faculty support to meet the teaching, research and patient care needs of the Department of Ophthalmology and assist in fulfilling UTMBs mission.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    The position will provide pediatric optical care, including annual vision screening, diagnosis, and treatment of medical conditions of the eye such as conjunctivitis, annual diabetic screenings, and other pathological conditions of the eye. The Optometrist can also receive referrals from ophthalmologists for patients needing monitoring and medical follow-up, increasing access to the surgeons, as well as access to triage and assessment of patients needing referrals to the surgeons. This position will have 8-9 clinic sessions per week and will have a primary clinic location on the mainland.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Candidate should be a graduate of an accredited medical school, have completed an ACGME approved residency training program in general optometry, with an interest in pediatric optometry and be Certified/Board eligible in Optometry and have a Texas Optometry License without restrictions.

    SALARY:

    Commensurate with experience.

    PHYSICAL LOCATION OF POSITION:

    UTMB Galveston and Mainland locations.
