Associate Attorney

Oakland based Insurance Defense Litigation Firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join their team! As a Litigation Attorney, you will have the opportunity to work closely with seasoned attorneys on a variety of litigation matters. This role is ideal for a newly licensed attorney with some professional work experience and a strong interest in insurance defense litigation. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn and develop their skills, able to take direction, and capable of absorbing materials from associates within the firm. This is a long term contract opportunity with potential to convert based on performance and mutual fit, candidates are required to report on site in Oakland, CA 5 days/week (Hybrid Schedule upon conversion)!

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in all aspects of litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.

• Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategies and arguments.

• Attend hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings.

• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and internal team members.

• Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and prepare for trial.

• Manage case files and ensure timely completion of tasks and deadlines.

• Continuously seek opportunities to enhance legal knowledge and skills.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

• Admission to the California State Bar and in good standing.

• 1-3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in litigation.

• Strong interest in litigation, particularly in insurance defense.

• Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.

• Eagerness to learn and grow within the firm.
