  • Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) Infrastructure Defense Division seeks a talented individual for an Associate Power Engineer position. The work we perform is some of the most fascinating, challenging, and rewarding that can be found in the power engineering community.

    Note: United States Citizenship is required.

    As an Associate Power Engineer, a typical day might include the following:

    • Researching power systems phenomena

    • EMTP Modeling

    • Hardware-in-the-loop Testing

    • Assisting in designing, prototyping, and documenting technologies for applications in SEL products or solutions

    • Assisting engineers in researching and writing new ideas and functional specifications

    • Attend onsite meetings and presentations at customer facilities

    This job might be for you if:

    • You have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering

    • You have knowledge in power system analysis, power system protection, and power system stability

    • You are willing to travel up to 25% of the time

    • You are a US Citizen

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Product Development experience

    • Knowledge of electric power system protection and control, integration, and automation and communications applications

    • Knowledge of electric power system design, studies, information and communication technology, and protective relay applications

    • Demonstrated excellent writing, documentation, and speaking skills

    • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities

    Pay Range Data

    We anticipate filling this position as an Associate Research Engineer $60,800 -$95,000.

    We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the salary range may differ if filled at a different level. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
