  • GENERAL PURPOSE

    The Business Intelligence Senior Developer is an Information Systems Division (ISD) employee who delivers focused reporting and business analytics for URMC. The BI developer partners with the requestor to understand business problems/challenges and creates meaningful and creative solutions to address these problems/challenges. Primary responsibilities include development of departmental and ad hoc reports in SQL tools (SSRS/T-SQL), Epic Systems reporting tools, and Tableau. The data sources are typically Epic Clarity / Caboodle data sources.

    RESONSIBILITIES

    • Develops complex logic for reports and data analysis using advanced functionality within Microsoft SQL tools (SSRS/T-SQL), Epic Systems reporting tools and/or Tableau/Power BI or other reporting applications. Designs, develops, delivers and maintains efficient reports, visualizations and dashboard solutions to enhance end users understanding of information.

    • Prepares and presents concise summaries to explain findings, limitations and recommendations based upon actionable insight.

    • Uses and refines if needed financial, business, and clinical requirements related to reporting applications. Assesses and estimates requests to determine scope and effort required.

    • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) workflows, translates information between the transactional system and the data repository. Uses data modeling and/or reporting tools to analyze information.

    • Performs proper testing and validation techniques to insure accuracy and integrity of reported or extracted data and document the unit test and validation processes used.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering required;

    • Masters Degree preferred.

    • 4-5 years of related experience required;

    • 2-3 years in a supervisory capacity preferred;

    • or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

    • Health care experience preferred.

    • Experience with EPIC reporting and analytics project management preferred.

    • Strong problem-solving abilities and proven customer service orientation required.

    • Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills required.

    • Ability to think critically and multitask preferred.

    • Knowledge of SQL, SSRS, and/or Tableau preferred.

    • Epic Clinical Data Model and/or Epic Revenue Data Model. Required within 12 months of hire into this role.

    Pay Range

    Pay Range: $65,000 - $135,000 Annual

    The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
