    Full Time Contract Clinical Staff Chaplain 3

    Qualifications:

    Master of Divinity Degree or Master's Level Theological Degree from an Accredited Seminary or Divinity Institution Required

    Board Certification Required from an Accredited Certifying Body or In Progress and Acquired within the first year of hire

    Four Units of Clinical Pastoral Education Required or In Progress and Acquired within the first year of hire

    Ordination or Commission by a recognized Faith Group required

    Endorsement to HCA North Florida Hospital by a recognized Denominational Body

    Personal Qualities and Skills

    Exemplifies a compassionate and accessible demeanor

    Demonstrates an ability to listen well with a non-anxious presence

    Possesses the interpersonal/relational skills necessary to comfort distressed and anxious patients, families, and staff

    Conveys excellent communication skills needed for supporting patients, families, and staff

    Exhibits problem-solving abilities for assessing the spiritual needs of patients and loved ones and how best to assist them in finding appropriate resolve to their concerns and/or spiritual distress

    Shows competency in the use of language and grammar for documenting patient visits in HCA North Florida Hospital's electronic record

    Meets productivity expectations as required

    Promotes a healing environment enhancing spiritual and emotional health for both patients and staff

    Participates in teamwork with other members of the department, including providing unit and on-call coverage as needed

    Provides and arranges sacraments/rituals from many faith traditions of patients, family and staff

    Must be available to work flexible hours which can include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekend as needed with on-call required

    Job Duties:

    Provides pastoral care and support in assigned areas to patients and their loved ones upon referral by assessing their spiritual needs and assisting them in using their resources to cope with hospitalization and illness

    Responds to all code blues on assigned units

    Serves as a team member who is able to help patients better understand advance directive choices

    Provides pastoral care and support as well as guidance to patients at end-of-life and their loved ones. Assists nursing in completing the Release of Body Paperwork/Post Mortem

    Provides crisis intervention as needed in assigned areas

    Functions as a spirituality resource to other members on the teams they cover.

    Provides support to hospital staff as needed

    Coordinates care with the patient's community clergy when needed.

    Performs other related functions as assigned by the Chaplain Manager

    Adheres to all hospital standards, policies, and procedures and to the Chaplain's certifying body's Code of Ethics

    Serves as a substitute on the after-hours on-call team when on-call Chaplain is unavailable
