    Position Summary: Responsible for taking money in the form of cash, check, or credit card from patrons in exchange for food or services. Scans items, provides change, and processes card transactions.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Essential Duties:

    1. Handle cash, credit or check transactions with customers
    2. Scan goods and collect payments
    3. Ensure pricing is correct
    4. Issue change, receipts, refunds, or tickets
    5. Redeem stamps and coupons
    6. Make sales referrals, cross-sell products and introduce new ones
    7. Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information
    8. Bag items carefully, if no bagger is present
    9. Greet customers when entering or leaving establishment
    10. Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas
    11. Keep reports of transactions
    12. Process returns and check to see if items are damaged
    13. Answer customers' questions and get a manager if answer doesn't solve the issue
    14. Pleasantly deal with customers to ensure satisfaction

    Reporting Relationship:

    1. Head Checker
    2. Store Manager

    Subordinate Staff (providing direct supervision):

    1. None

    Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Knowledge of POS system preferred
    • Ability to lift heavy items, ranging from 5 to 30 lbs
    • Excellent customer service, communication, and math skills.
    • Attention to detail
    • Customer service experience, preferred
    • Positive attitude
    • Punctuality and good attendance is a must.
    • Ability to speak, read and fluent in English to ensure fluent communication with customers, coworkers, and supervisors who only speak English.

    Work Environment:

    • Store Climate can range, averaging 70-78 degrees, freezer and walk-ins low as 20 degrees.
    • Moderate level noise
    • Twisting, slippery floor surfaces, cluttered floor surfaces, toxic exposure, nuisance dust, fumes, sprays, hazardous cleaning solutions, operation of department equipment

    Travel:

    • No travel needed

    Physical Requirements:

    • Standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, ability to carry/lift 30lbs, push/pull 30lbs.
    • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
    • Ability to stand and move for up to 8 hours per day
    • Repetitive Action – Scanning products, Typing in POS system, twisting to grab products, bending to reach products in cart.

    LIFTING: Average Weight: 5 lbs up to 30 lbs. Frequency: Daily
