Close Observer

GENERAL PURPOSE

The Close Observer assists in maintaining patient and staff safety by implementing various diversionary strategies, as well as assisting delegated nursing care.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Incorporates therapeutic and diversionary interventions to maintain patient safety, refocus the patient, and promote healthy behaviors.

2. Assists patients with ambulation, hygiene, nutrition, linen changes, and other activities of daily living.

3. Identifies potential risks and early signs of escalating patient behaviors (e.g, agitation, confusion, anxiety).

4. Keeps patient and staff safety at the forefront, engaging the patient in reduction techniques to maintain safety.

5. Problem solving and critical thinking skills to help implement behavioral interventions.

6. Performs other duties as assigned by the registered nurse.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma required. One to two years of experience related to patient care or psychiatric training or six months of nursing education preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work independently; Innovative with patient care; Flexible in thinking and approach.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 17.00 - $ 22.95 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
