    Summary

    The Commissioning Engineer/SCADA Technician BESS is responsible for directing and managing the site activities required for energization, commissioning, testing,and warranty requirements for the site, site controller, and other major equipment on utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) facilities

    Requirements

    • Management and oversight of the site commissioning activities, including witnessing and certifying all electrical testing, cold commissioning, hot commissioning, and site acceptance testing.

    • Inspects and test all communication hardware, cable installation, and termination.

    • Drafts and implements theproject-specific commissioning plans and coordinates pre-commissioning activities (including factory acceptance tests if necessary.)

    • Works with EMS Engineer to develop EMS & project controls commissioning procedure, then executes commissioning procedure in the field.

    • Reviews project Site Acceptance testing requirements, the develops site acceptance testing plan (SAT) to be included in the Commissioning Plan. Oversees execution of plan in the field, ensuring detailed communication and coordination with Owner & other necessary 3rd parties.

    • Directs any third party electrical, mechanical, and testing agencies/vendors in the scheduling, supervision, and performance of all necessary commissioning and testing activities.

    • Communicates effectively with Project Owners to provide daily updates and provide necessary input for integrated test schedules and other items while commissioning battery energy storage projects.

    • Works with Site Electricians to establish the Safety Tagging, Lockout & Work Permit Program and ensures compliance with its provisions.

    • Coordinates with electrical engineering team, Site Electricians, Owner & Equipment suppliers to develop Energization Plans and supports site electricians with implement plan in the field.

    • Works with discipline engineers to identify and coordinate interconnection. Documents and coordinates requirements pre- and post-construction.

    • Works with Site Electricians to establish the Safety Tagging, Lockout and Work Permit Program and ensures compliance with its provisions.

    • Coordinates with electrical engineering team, Site Electricians, Owner and Equipment suppliers to develop Energization Plans and supports site electricians with implement plan in the filed.

    • Works with discipline engineers to identify and coordinate utility interconnection. Documents and coordinates requirements pre- and post- construction.

    • Coordinates daily with commissioning team to ensure project milestones met.

    • Manages and organizes the site commissioning engineers tasks, deliverables, and activities.

    • Ensures all Q.A. documentation from Commissioning & testing activities are completed and turned over to Project Coordinator to be incorporated into Job Books for Client.

    • Supports Warranty requests for completed project sites.

    • Interfaces with the Owners Operations department to schedule O&M training.

    • Works with Construction Manager or designee to jointly develop Punch List before release of system/equipment to Commissioning.

    • Operates Company vehicle to oversee site operations.

    • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.

    • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.

    • Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.

    • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipmentproperly.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degreeElectrical Engineering or equivalent or at least 3-5 years experience in a similar position with equivalent experience required).

    • Certification OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, Project Management Training and Certification preferred.

    • 1+ years or more experience managing electrical utility scale commission personnel and activities required.

    • Must have Field Construction, Commissioning and start-up experience BESS preferred, required.

    • Knowledge of utility-scale in battery energy storage facility testing for EPC or Utilities in the UnitedStates.

    • Intermediatelevelofknowledgeinundergroundandoverheaddistributiondesign;transmission systems and design; single and three-phase electricaldesign.

    • D.C. systems architecture andtesting.

    • Field construction, Commissioning, and start-up experiencepreferred.

    • National Fire Protection Association/National Electrical Code (NFPA/NEC) standards, NESC, NFPA 70E, and IEEE/IES/APIStandards.

    • NETA and IEEE standards as related to utility-scale battery energy storage facilities. EMS systems, BMS systems, Inverters, Medium Voltage Transformers, MV and LV cabling, grounding, and BESS- specific componenttesting.

    • Organization, planning, decision-making, problem analyses, andleadership.

    • Knowledge of the commercial performance of powerplants.

    • Understand and implement safety requirements as outlined by NFPA70E.

    • Outage planning and coordination review and oversight as outlined in NFPA70E.

    • Ability to work extended hours and travel at shortnotice.

    • Familiarity with NERC guidelines and various ISO and TSO organization requirements ispreferred.

    • Familiarity with DCS / SCADA control systems and methods for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems.

    • Familiarity with ICS architecture as it applies to utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

    • Familiarity with testing of mechanical and solid-state relaying systems is aplus.

    • Ability to interpret and integrate contractdocuments.

    • Ability to assist in the development and interpretation of projectschedules.

    • Ability to communicate both internally and externally with both personnel andclients.

    • Functional competencies include attention to detail, communication, excellence, system thinking, and businessacumen.

    • Domestic and International travel 51 75%.

    • Valid Drivers License required.

    Anticipated base salary range: $100,000 - $120,000

    The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
