    JOB SUMMARY

    The Manager of Configuration is accountable for the coordination and administration of all configuration management activities. Provides leadership in the configuration of information and transactional systems to achieve company goals and targets and facilitates successful company-wide operations.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

    • Accountable for hiring, terminating, performance evaluations, and development of assigned staff. Oversees staffing needs, monitors attendance, and implements corrective action, as needed, based on policies and procedures.

    • Manages the workflow of the team, ensuring that change requests are addressed promptly and that departmental policies are adhered to.

    • Coordinates and manages projects that involve many teams within the department ensuring that the department is meeting its operational metrics and goals.

    • Communicates to managers system issues, concerns, and alternative options/resolutions as they pertain to new products, changes to current benefits, time constraints, etc.

    • Manages professional and strategic relationships with consultants and vendors to build long-term, successful, and cost-effective partnerships beneficial to the health plan.

    • Researches complex problems to find out possible solutions.

    • Provides guidance in the design and implementation of solutions to help key business targets.

    • Assesses design options and chooses the best solution to fit business needs, considering interdepartmental impact when recommending solutions.

    • Monitors existing system functionality and makes options to maintain acceptable levels of performance, reliability and end-user satisfaction.

    • Ensures the quality and integrity of work requests through the use of product validation and audit strategies.

    • Identifies opportunities to improve efficiencies through system enhancements and coordinates the system and/or process changes.

    • Utilizes system development lifecycle methodology to implement system changes to production environments.

    • Provides consultative services by closely participating in and serving as a subject matter professional on many cross-functional teams and projects, as well as troubleshooting inquiries and issues from other departments.

    • Develops, maintains, and disseminates internal and external configuration documentation, including status updates.

    • Maintains and modifies appropriate department policies and procedures.

    KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

    • Proven data and problem-solving skills.

    • Able to perform complex business and product requirement testing.

    • Excellent project management skills.

    • Demonstrated a high level of skills in utilizing data testing and query tools such as MS Access, SQL, and MS Excel to identify root-cause issues.

    • Knowledge of medical benefit policies and plan designs, claims hospital and medical processing, and adjudication with data skills.

    • Working knowledge of CPT-4, ICD-10-CM and general medical terminology.

    • Excellent social skills, including the ability to work with all levels of team.

    • Configuration experience providing pricing and/or benefits and provider configuration help on payer system.

    • Broad operational managed care background preferred.

    • Previous training and documentation experience preferred.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • EDUCATION - Bachelor's Degree or HS Diploma/GED plus 9 years of work experience

    • EXPERIENCE - A minimum of 5 years experience required
