    Job Description

    Position Summary

    The Paralegal role serves as a critical support function for the Multifamily Legal Department, providing advanced paralegal expertise and ensuring regulatory compliance across various areas. Key responsibilities include contract management, corporate governance, commercial and residential lease review, interpretation, and enforcement. Additionally, this position will involve litigation support, e-discovery assistance, and collaboration with the legal team on special projects and ad-hoc assignments as needed. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

    Essential Job Functions

    1. Legal Research and Analysis

    2. Conduct comprehensive legal research utilizing online databases, reference materials, and other resources to support legal department.

    3. Provide research and reference support across various areas including real estate transactions, corporate matters, litigation cases, and other legal issues impacting the business.

    4. Assist with research and assignments such as title searches, property history research, entity searches, litigation tracking, and monitoring legal developments relevant to the organization.

    5. Analyze and synthesize research findings into clear and concise summaries, memos, or reports for review.

    6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring proper documentation and organization of materials.

    1. Document Drafting and Review

    2. Prepare, draft, and review a wide range of legal documents, including agreements, transactional documents, and correspondence related to multifamily and commercial real estate.

    3. Draft various legal instruments such as notices, lease amendments, license agreements, lease termination agreements, indemnification agreements, and release agreements for attorney review.

    4. Utilize legal citation and formatting guidelines consistently across all document types, maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.

    5. Proofread and edit documents thoroughly, identifying and correcting errors, inconsistencies, or ambiguities to ensure clarity and precision.

    1. Data Organization and E-Discovery Support

    2. Prepare comprehensive written summaries, reports, and analyses based on gathered data, including the creation of informative statistics, charts, and graphs to aid in data visualization and interpretation.

    3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in departmental databases, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and adherence to departmental standards and protocols.

    4. Provide data organization and e-discovery support as needed by compiling, processing, and analyzing large volumes of data and electronic information relevant to legal matters.

    5. Assist with managing and responding to e-discovery requests as needed, including data collection, processing, review, and production, in accordance with established protocols and legal requirements.

    6. Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive data and information.

    1. Department Support

    2. Assist with various legal matters, corporate workflows, and projects outside of primary responsibilities, providing support wherever needed.

    3. Prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, ensuring timely completion while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.

    4. Exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills to address challenges and issues that arise.

    5. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to gather necessary information to complete tasks efficiently.

    6. Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements or efficiencies.

    Education

    This position requires a(n) Undergraduate (Bachelor) Degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or Related Field.

    Work Experience

    Below is the required/preferred work experience for this position:

    • 5 - 7 Years: Paralegal Experience Related to Real Estate Industry - Required

    • 5 - 7 Years: In House Paralegal Experience - Preferred

    • 3 - 4 Years: Multifamily and/or Commercial Real Estate Company - Preferred

    • 3 - 4 Years: Lease Administration Experience - Preferred

    • 1 - 2 Years: Experience with document management systems used in Multifamily and Amenity Retail Leasing (e.g. Yardi, Real Page) - Preferred

    Note: 8 - 10 Years of experience can offset minimum educational requirements for this position.

    Licenses & Certifications

    Below are the licenses/certificates required/preferred for this position:

    Paralegal certification from an accredited institution - Preferred
