  • The Cybersecurity Engineer III will plan, develop, and implement administrative or technical solutions to increase security and defend against hacking, malware and ransomware, insider threats, and other types of malicious activity. The Cybersecurity Engineer III will oversee monitoring of computer systems, identifies security issues, and anticipates security breaches. Executes the installation and maintenance of security programs, plans, and software, including firewalls and endpoint protection programs. This role is expected to provide expertise and guidance in all aspects of cybersecurity to the Cybersecurity Team. The role will also place a heavy emphasis on Federal Government Cybersecurity compliance including NIST, FISMA, Binding Operation Directives, DOE Orders, Data calls, etc. while working directly with Federal counterparts.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

    • Responsible for promoting a culture and attitude of professional cybersecurity within the Cybersecurity Team and supporting an IT organization.

    • Responsible for ensuring a compliant organizational cybersecurity posture while meeting organizational business needs.

    • Work directly with government and contractor program managers, task managers, and system engineers on all phases of IT Projects and IT Operations and Maintenance.

    • Assist the Cybersecurity Manager in reporting and mitigation of information system security incidents and initiates protective and/or corrective measures designed to prevent future incidents.

    • Interact with internal and external customers or Government officials to perform Cybersecurity duties, address information security matters with Team peers, perform report preparation, and system security briefings, etc.

    • Support all disciplines within the IT organization to ensure adherence to, and compliance with, the Federal and organizational Cybersecurity programs.

    • Enforce adherence to the organizational IT Governance policies and processes within the Cybersecurity Team.

    • Develop and implement plans and procedures to govern systems and equipment containing sensitive government data and Personally Identifiable Information.

    • Develop and implement security measures in accordance with applicable Government regulations and local procedures.

    • Responsible for performing information technology risk assessments and providing written recommendations and plans to senior contractor and government management.

    • Responsible for certification and ongoing authorization of government enterprise computer networks and standalone information systems using government standards.

    • Develop and maintain (keeps current) all information system certification/accreditation documentation in accordance with mandated policies.

    • Oversee and conduct ongoing vulnerability testing of information systems to verify security features and operating controls are functional, effective, and meet government standards.

    • Develop and formulate risk assessments, mitigation plans, and Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M).

    • Coordinate updates to Anti-Virus, Host-Based Security Systems, System and Software Patches as required.

    • Respond to cybersecurity incident reporting requests in accordance with Dept. of Energy and other federal regulations and requirements.

    • Direct the engineering and implementation of information assurance {IA), Cybersecurity {CS), and network security {NS) best practices when addressing IA/CS/NS issues for new systems implementations.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education/Experience Required:

    Bachelor's Degree: Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Mathematics or related Discipline.

    Minimum 5 years relatable experience

    Additional requirements

    • No clearance requirement but the contract and/or the site requires US Citizenship to be approved for access. (includes NACI / T1, MRPT, CAC): Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

    • The ability to analyze, interpret, design, and make recommendations on all cyber security aspects of a federal enterprise.

    • Technical knowledge of IT Systems, Computer infrastructure & Software {e.g. Computer, Server, Storage, Networking, Firewall, Operating Systems, Databases, Web Servers, Virtualization).

    • Knowledge of developing algorithms through programing languages or scripts.

    • Cyber Security Tools {e.g., Antivirus, Scanning, SEIM), Cyber Security Tactics, Methodologies, Procedures.

    • Interacts well with all levels of employees, customers, stakeholders, and management within a larger non-IT organization.

    • Technical knowledge of common IT protocols such as dns, dhcp. Tftp, tls/ssl, http, sip, smtp, snmp, ssh, telnet, icmp, ntp, and udp.

    • Proficient skills with the following: NIST SP 800-53, Networking, Server Operations and one of the LM Cybersecurity technical cybersecurity systems (Splunk, CrowdStrike, Cisco FirePower, etc.).

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

    HIRING SALARY RANGE: $110,338.30 - 139,702.53 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
