Responsibilities

The Action Environmental Group, parent company of Action Carting in New York City and Interstate Waste Services in Northern New Jersey/Southern New York State, has anopeningfor a skilled Diesel Mechanics ready to take on the next challenge in their career.

OurDiesel Mechanicsperforminspection,diagnosisand repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines. Performs preventive maintenance inspection (PMI); troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds major components on vehicles and equipment.?Ensuresaccuratediagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components.?Additionalresponsibilities include:

• Performs all workin accordance withestablished safety procedures.

• Covering Roadside breakdowns

• Completes required paperworkutilizingfleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.

• Assistsin the repair and adjustment of equipment.

• Washes vehicles and equipment.

• Conducts safety checks on vehicles.

• Assistswith service calls for breakdowns.

• Perform other maintenance related work asrequired.

• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.

Qualifications

• 3-5+years' experienceas class Aor B mechanic

• Computer diagnostic experience isrequired

• Prior experience from waste management industry or heavy equipment/yellow iron dealership experience is a plus

• Trade school or similar training is a plus

• Knowledge ofsafety procedures and practices
