    JOB OVERVIEW

    The Director of Memory Care partners with Care and Resident Engagement & Program Service leadership and with regional and community leaders to deploy our company's branded state of the art, industry-leading memory care programs, including Reminiscence and Terrace Club. The Director provides oversight and ensures the standardization and integrity of the memory care neighborhood and program, ensuring resident spiritual, emotional, intellectual, vocational, social, physical, and environmental needs are met. The Director utilizes Sunrise programs, training, and resources to support Sunrise communities, including onboarding of key leadership positions related to memory care.

    RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

    Responsibilities:

    • Champion and support all Sunrise approved programs within the Reminiscence and Terrace Club neighborhoods.

    • Apply Principles of Service to interactions with residents and families with a special emphasis on those with memory loss.

    • Ensure the Validation Method, verbal empathy based, and nonverbal communication techniques that meet the residents on a more emotional level are embedded and applied within Sunrise.

    • Invigorate resident and team member engagement through Life Enrichment, Life Skills & Live With Purpose programming in Reminiscence and Terrace Club.

    • Support Behavioral Expression calls for specific residents as needed and as scheduled/requested by ED, RC/RCC/TCC, RDO, RDRC, VP of Care, or legal team; support the review of ISPs to ensure personalized interventions and support strategies to provide person-centered care for aforementioned residents; discuss incorporating programming support elements relevant to personalizing care for same residents.

    • Perform community site visits (or virtually as needed) to perform Memory Care onboarding for new EDs; meet with and support RCs while in community:

    o Support the Life Enrichment Manager role - indirectly via promoting ED and RC understanding of the role and directly while in communities.

    • Facilitate or participate in cluster meetings or scheduled team calls with EDs, RCs, RCCs, TCCs and/or LEMs to reinforce key principles and build a peer network as needed or requested by regional peers or senior leadership, or as needs arise:

    o Partner with regional partners or VP/SVP leadership to identify strengths, opportunities, and strategies in each region regarding memory care programs. These may be determined by metrics such as the Quality Assurance processes (CPA results) for each program/neighborhood, occupancy, team member and family member engagement, Net Promoter Score, and other metrics available through Sunrise systems and programs, as well as through independent or collaborative regional team site visits.

    • Interview final RC, RCC and/or TCC candidates who have already been interviewed and supported by the community Executive Director (ED) and regional team (as applicable).

    • Collaborate with Sunrise University and the Organizational Development team, and community leadership team, to screen, approve, support, and develop training leaders for Sunrise job coaching and/or GS3 Reminiscence facilitation to help support other coordinators within their cluster.

    • Communicate with communities (primarily ED or RC) to introduce or reaffirm memory care focused initiatives (i.e., essentiALZ, Total Brain Health CARE, etc.).

    • In collaboration with the VP of Care or RDRC, support the organizational standard related to residency criteria for each state or province.

    • Partner with RDO/RDRC or VPC in resident crises events, move-in/discharge decisions, neighborhood transitions, and/or family educational or support needs.

    • Support regional sales team efforts with occasional in-person support of in-person Behavioral Expressions or other dementia or memory care related professional development trainings as requested.

    • Represent Sunrise from a memory care perspective as needed for regional events or professional relationships.

    • Process and submit monthly expenses and budget data timely per Sunrise policies and internal business controls.

    • Understand the internal cost associated with all Sunrise resident care programs.

    • Stay abreast of professional developments in the field; attend relevant conferences.

    • Maintain compliance in assigned required training as applicable to this role to ensure that Sunrise standards are always met.

    Qualifications:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed throughout this job description are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required

    • College degree required.

    • Minimum of two (2) years in Assisted Living Operations.

    • Demonstrated experience in Memory Care programming, initiatives, and leadership.

    • Five (5) years supervisory and management experience including hiring staff, coaching, performance management daily operations supervision, discipline, and counseling.

    • Ability to handle multiple priorities.

    • Ability to delegate assignments to the appropriate individuals based on their skills, roles, and interests.

    • Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and the ability to facilitate group presentations of various sizes and audience types.

    • Competent in organizational and time management skills.

    • Demonstrate good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.

    • Demonstration of proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel) and Sunrise applications with the ability to learn new applications.

    • As applicable, all Sunrise team members who drive a Sunrise vehicle must review and sign the Driver job description and understand the key essential duties for safety and regulatory compliance.

    • Ability to travel within a geographic area or on assignments with Sunrise.

    • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours, available for our customers at peak service delivery days and times.
