    Summary

    The Geotechnical Engineering Technician will collaborate with engineers and technicians to produce detailed drawings and review plans for various geotechnical projects. The role will be pivotal in ensuring accurate documentation and assisting in the development of complex engineering challenges.

    Physical Demands & Work Environment

    • Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear. Standing or sitting for extended periods of time may be required.

    • Lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs. is expected.

    • The noise level is usually moderate.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project

    • Creating detailed CAD drawings, plans, and diagrams for geotechnical engineering projects

    • Collaborating with engineers to understand the project requirements and specifications

    • Coordinating drilling activities, including scheduling, site preparation, equipment coordination, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols

    • Incorporating design changes and modifications directed by engineering teams

    • Producing accurate technical documentations, including reports and design calculations

    • Utilizing specialized tools to locate underground utilities and assess potential design conflicts

    • Conducting soil classification according to industry standards and project needs

    • Ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes and regulations in drawings and plans

    • Implementing vibration monitoring programs during construction to assess impacts on nearby structures

    • Generating precise pile logs reports detailing installation, driving parameters and quality control measures

    • Assisting in project coordination and communication with internal teams and external stakeholders

    • Maintaining organized project files and documentation for future references and revisions

    • Participating in team meetings and contributing ideas for processing improvement and efficiency

    • Other duties may be assigned

    Required Qualifications:

    • Ability to problem solve

    • Strong attention to detail

    • Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver's License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)

    • Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida's Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification).

    • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

    • Ability to read & write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Knowledge of written communication formats and composition, including grammar and vocabulary. Ability to present to one or more people, including customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients.

    • Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop and cell phone, including sending and receiving emails, prepare and present PowerPoint Presentations, and learn Deltek Vision, SAP Concur, and CRM software.

    • Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or create, and interpret, bar graphs.

    • Reasoning ability to handle multiple and changing priorities concurrently. Ability to work with problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to effectively communicate about products, services, and technical requirements to both the client/customer and employees within UES.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering

    • Proficiency in CAD software, MicroStation, Civil 3D for geotechnical drafting and design

    • Strong communication skills for coordinating with internal and external teams

    • Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities and a commitment to safety in all aspects of work
