    Description:

    In this role, as part of a multidisciplinary engineering and construction team, you will develop and integrate engineering deliverables for complex and challenging electrical construction projects in the mission critical, healthcare, industrial, transportation, pharmaceutical, federal, and fortune 500 sectors. Work products include detailed design drawings, specifications, studies, product selections, installation sequence plans, and commissioning testing scripts, as well as the life cycle execution of the systems associated. The role is located on-site at a project location or at M.C. Dean office locations, as required to support project delivery.

    This is a position for an experienced engineer, providing innovative, thorough, and practical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems with limited oversight. The proficient use and application of technical concepts, practices, and techniques is expected. You will be expected to execute the design and system integration tasks at a high level, manage a project specific multi-discipline team, and actively take ownership of projects you are assigned. You will be provided with tools required to succeed, including access to more experienced engineers, and training on industry standards, codes, and software that will facilitate and drive the requirements of your work. You will be expected to properly understand and utilized the tools provided to you.

    The M.C. Dean E&C Electrical Systems Engineering team provides comprehensive, fully integrated engineering services and management to the Engineering and Construction Division, in specific support of the Operations Team and the execution of construction. As a member of the team, you will participate in all aspects of system design and construction, including preconstruction and estimating, design and engineering, Virtual Design and Construction (VDC/BIM), and electrical construction. You will actively coordinate with, and may actively manage the design of, other building systems provided by M.C. Dean, including telecommunications, electronic security, fire alarm, and electrical automation and control. You will also be exposed to all aspects of construction and expected to coordinate your work as required with other trades, such as architecture and mechanical/plumbing.

    Essential responsibilities and activities include but are not limited to:

    1. Originate, execute, and check the detailed design with very limited supervision by Senior Engineers, including the design or integration of the following:

    2. Normal power medium and low voltage distribution systems.

    3. Emergency power generation and distribution systems, including UPS.

    4. Coordinate device locations with other trades, including mechanical, plumbing, or other (Architectural, Lab, Medical, Kitchen, etc), including interpreting equipment requirements.

    5. Interior and Exterior Lighting Design including lighting controls & layouts. Ability to perform lighting calculations

    6. Project specifications for all equipment and installation methods.

    7. Perform and check analysis of electrical distribution systems, including short circuit, overcurrent device coordination, arc flash, cable pull, ductbank heating, etc.

    8. Documentation of design work via AutoCAD and REVIT in 2D and 3D platforms.

    9. Originates and checks project equipment and material specifications.

    10. Originates and checks basis of design narratives.

    11. Perform constructability reviews of design.

    12. Field verifies existing conditions as necessary.

    13. Provide support of construction activities, including but not limited to, responses to Requests for Information, review of project equipment quotes and submittals, and technical support of operations management.

    14. Mentor less experience engineers.

    15. Manage the design process for project delivery.

    16. Assign and manage tasks for design projects.

    17. Manage project support and deliverables as the Project Lead Engineer on technically complex projects.

    18. Perform quality control check of work product you provide, and work by others.

    19. Travel to work locations as required.

    20. Participate in or lead design, operations, and owner/architect/contractor meetings.

    21. Efficiently communicate design intent to others, must have good ability to defend design decisions.

    22. Determine project engineering scopes of work, deadlines, and budget, and complete work within agreed deadlines and budget.

    23. Keep engineering leadership informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and that the objectives of the company and the client are achieved.

    24. Coordinate work with other members of the project team.

    25. Inform all relevant MCDean staff of client matters.

    26. Commit to self-learning and professional development.

    27. Manage your time effectively and support multiple projects concurrently.

    Required Position Qualifications

    1. Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline from an accredited engineering program

    2. 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in design or commissioning of building power systems

    3. Proficient in most essential responsibilities and activities, expert in some

    4. Proficient in MS Office suite of products

    Preferred Positions Qualifications

    1. Professional Engineers License

    2. Experience inthe mission critical, healthcare, industrial, transportation, pharmaceutical, federal, and fortune 500 sectors

    3. Proficiency with AutoCAD software

    4. Expert in Revit software

    5. Expert with engineering analysis software, such as AGI32, ElumTools, SKM, or ETAP

    6. Eligible to gain a DOD security clearance

    7. Master's degree in engineering or management

    8. Design Build Institute of America Certification (DBIA)

    9. Certified Energy Manager Certification (CEM)

    10. Certified in Power Quality Certification (CPQ)

    11. Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Certification (LEED)

    12. Lighting Certified Certification (LC)

    13. Certified Lighting & Efficiency Professional Certification (CLEP)

    14. Certified Associate in Project Management Certification (CAPM)

    15. National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies Certification (NICET)
