    The Role

    Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

    Must Have

    Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience;

    Master's Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience

    Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

    Nice to Have

    • Strong communication, organizational and computer skills in order to collaborate with other engineering departments to identify component, system and process improvements

    • Regular use of ingenuity and innovation to perform most tasks

    • Have the ability to conduct research on new materials of special interest to a power generation and distribution system

    • Ability to perform technical auditing and investigation of engineering design products and processes

    • Experience with electrical drawings, diagrams, evaluating electrical standards, electrical relay protection settings, programming electrical components, lab testing, the use of electrical test equipment, developing Ships Force Training, developing letters to the customer, and all Microsoft Office products

    • Knowledge of 13.8 kV Switchboards, 450 V Load Centers, 13.8 kV Transformers, RLARs, LARs, Ethernet switches, and Networks
