    SAIC is looking for an experienced, energetic and motivated Field Service Technician to join our Land Border Integration team in the Buffalo, NY area. As a Field Service Technician working for SAIC you will have a fast moving, challenging, and highly rewarding position keeping the infrastructure running that helps SAIC keep our borders safe.

    Travel Requirements

    • Travel to US Customs Ports of Entry and Border Patrol locations in the Buffalo and Northern NY Border locations.

    • Daily area of coverage could include sites up to 150 miles from home base.

    • Mileage will be reimbursed at the prevailing government rate.

    • Reliable transportation with insurance.

    • Substantial toolkit to support installation and maintenance activities will be provided.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform routine maintenance and inspections at Ports of Entry on deployed equipment, including but not limited to License Plate Reader (LPR) equipment, RFID, network/power, signage, and communication devices.

    • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to identify root causes and implement timely repairs to minimize downtime.

    • Install new equipment and systems according to specifications and SOPs provided by SAIC deployment management.

    • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to coordinate equipment upgrades, replacements, and enhancements.

    • Adhere to all CBP and SAIC IT Security, physical security, and operations security policies.

    • Document accurate records of equipment maintenance activities, including maintenance schedules, repair histories, and inventory levels.

    • Adhere to safety protocols such as OSHA and local regulations while performing maintenance and repair tasks at Ports of Entry.

    • Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and provide on-call support as needed during business hours Monday-Friday.

    • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with Customs and Border Protection personnel, Border Patrol, vendors, and the traveling public.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience as a Field Service Technician OR high school diploma and 6 years of experience as a Field Service Technician.

    • Ability to drive daily to job sites, sometimes up to 150 miles away.

    • May travel to other locations on the U.S. border to assist with installations and ticket resolutions for up to two weeks.

    • Additional technical certifications or vocational training preferred.

    • Proven experience as a field technician or similar role, preferably in a law enforcement or border security environment.

    • Strong technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electronic and mechanical systems.

    • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand and power tools, and computer software for equipment maintenance and repair.

    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively to non-technical stakeholders.

    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and documentation.

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively within a team environment.

    • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

    • Understands basic electrical wiring principles (low voltage only).

    • Technically proficient with signal cabling such as CAT 6 and coaxial to include testing and termination.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Active DHS Public Trust is highly desired.

    • Understanding of multimode fiber installation and troubleshooting is highly desired.

    Citizenship / Clearance Qualifications:

    • US Citizenship is required.

    • Candidate must be able to obtain DHS Public Trust prior to starting work.

    • CBP Background Investigation requires drug screen prior to starting.

    Target salary range: $75,001 - $85,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
