    This position reports directly to the Regional Manager and will manage, direct, and lead all strategic operations and servicing functions concerning the ULCS Fleet in Region 121. This includes acquisition and replacement, equipment rental, vendor and customer strategy, planning, cost control, process implementation, remarketing, and operational excellence.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    • Provide leadership, management, and oversight of fleet and maintenance operations within ULCS Region 102. The role is the focal point to assess the current and future department needs to support ULCS's customers, field operations, and teams.

    • Partner with Region leadership on operational and strategic issues as they arise and provide strategic recommendations based on analysis and projections. Engage all members of the leadership team to align operational management with short and long-term planning and projections.

    • Ensure the efficient and effective process of vehicle and equipment repairs and rapid turnaround of vehicles and equipment. Manage fleet and maintenance quality assurance and quality control programs.

    • Ensure the efficient and effective process of vehicle and equipment rentals, including rapid acquisition and turn-in policies.

    • Ensure the efficient and effective process of vehicle and equipment remarketing, including prompt removal of vehicles and equipment designated for retirement, delivery to remarketing vendors, and collection of remarketing funds.

    • Develop and analyze all operating metrics, providing guidance on trends and developing prompt actions to correct performance issues or inefficiencies while identifying opportunities to reduce expenses.

    • Develop and manage department budget(s). Analyze expenditures and other financial information to develop plans, policies, and budgets to drive improvement in margin and services.

    • Working with the ULCS Safety Team, design and implement appropriate policies and procedures to effectively ensure safety and fleet operation initiatives are maintained.

    • Implement and lead continuous quality improvement processes throughout field operations focusing on systems and process improvement.

    • Research and implementation of new equipment programs that support the future needs of the business.

    • Provide leadership and direct supervision of Fleet Department personnel as assigned. Assess talent and provide ongoing coaching and development and performance management to improve performance and overall team effectiveness. Foster a team environment and a strong service culture that ensures timely and quality-driven service.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Demonstrated skills in leadership, business planning, financial analysis, negotiation, and customer satisfaction skills.

    • Strong analytical skills and experience translating a strategic vision into an actionable operational model. Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills and an ability to identify problems, design and articulate solutions, and implement change.

    • Proven leader with the ability to create an environment of respect, dignity, and entrepreneurial spirit. A collaborative and flexible style with a strong customer service mentality.     • Experience using MS Office Suite, ERP systems such as PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle, as well as Fleet Management Software (i.e. Fleetwave, Fleetio)

    • Must be able to be present on-site during the work week. No telecommuting.

    Education & Experience:

    • 10+ years of direct experience in Fleet Management or Project Management.

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

    Pre-Screen:

    License & Certifications:

    • A valid Driver's License is required, CDL preferred.

    Travel Requirements

    • Must be willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work or meetings as needed.

    Safety

    Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
