  • Description:

    Gearbox technician will perform assembly and disassembly, set-up, and testing of industrial gear boxes. * Assembly of new and repaired gearboxes. * Disassemble geared products when necessary. * Accurately measure gears, shafts, housing bores for proper clearances with calibrated measuring tools. * Read assembly drawings. * Assemble shafts, gears, bearings, and lubrication systems. * Properly set-up gearboxes to ensure they meet specifications, tolerances, and other customer requirements. * Perform light welding. * Operate forklift and crane. * Conduct safe rigging of materials. * Replace dull cutting tools. * Check accuracy of work against blueprints and specifications. * Produce large quantities of parts. * Determine how automated equipment will cut apart. * Determine the cutting path. * Concert path, speed, and feed information into sets of instructions for a machine tool * Use manual and computer-controlled machinery. * Write basic programs. * Modify programs in response to problems. * Other duties as assigned.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications:

    • Possess strong mechanical aptitude.
    • Prior experience in the repair of industrial equipment such as gearboxes, motors, pumps highly preferred.
    • Basic machining knowledge & use of inspection equipment (preferred)
    • Welding
    • Experience using a tow-motor, CDL is a plus.
    • Should be highly motivated, self-starter, reliable, trustworthy.
    • Good verbal and listening communication skills.
    • Able to pass OSHA training.
    • Basic math skills.
    • Able to read blueprints and the ability to troubleshoot problems with critical & analytical thinking.
    • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job without accommodation.
