    General Summary

    The job of General Maintenance Worker was established for the purpose of providing maintenance services as needed and/or assigned; assisting in a wide variety of routine maintenance activities; addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns; assisting skilled trades; and ensuring that tools, materials and vehicles are maintained in good working order and are available at job site when needed.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Understanding the proper procedures for filling out all required paperwork (Time Sheet, Parts Order Forms, Work Order Forms, etc.)

    • Responds to trouble calls in a timely manner as directed by the Contract Maintenance Manager (CMM), production clerk, foreman and/or administrative personnel per the contract SOW.

    • Completing assigned Preventive Maintenance and/or Work Orders in a timely manner as noted per contract SOW.

    • Ability to perform work with limited to no supervision.

    • Coordinates with skilled tradesmen and/or assigned supervisor(s) for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.

    • Performs a wide variety of general and semiskilled maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, drywall repairs and finishing, painting, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, appliances installations, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects within established time frames.

    • Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.

    • Repairs fixtures and building system components for the purpose of ensuring a safe working condition.

    • Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

    • Transports a variety of tools, equipment and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.

    • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

    Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements

    Practical skill, experience, training, knowledge, productivity, reasoning ability, mathematical skills and ability necessary to successfully perform the maintenance services required by a General Maintenance Worker. Excellent customer service, team work, communication and reliability. J&J. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job.

    Licenses and Certification

    Required:

    • High School Diploma /GED or a Higher Degree

    • Valid Driver's License

    Work Environment

    Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Required to wear protective clothing and devices when working with hazardous chemicals. Subjected to hazardous gases, high pressure gases, hot liquids, dirt, dust, and oil/grease. Requires, standing, stooping, climbing, and lifting heavy objects to perform duties. Physical demands include ascending and descending ladders, scaffolds, and platforms.

    • Possible exposure to hazardous materials, requiring use of respirators and personal protective safety attire and equipment.

    • May require entering confined spaces such as ductwork, pits, and crawl spaces.

    • Lifting and carrying varies - dependent on location of equipment up to 30-40 ft. height.

    • Ability to push 50 pounds (maintenance equipment); ability to lift minimum of 50 pounds (supplies and equipment)

    • Must be able to pass background check and obtain Security Clearance.
